I Believe in Angels – October 2nd and a Miracle I'll Never Forget

October 2nd is known as the Feast of the Guardian Angels—a day meant to honor the invisible protectors believed to walk beside us. Whether you believe in divine intervention or the kindness of strangers, I have my own reason to celebrate this day with gratitude and awe.

On October 2nd, 2021, my husband Kenny was in a devastating car accident. The kind that takes your breath away just hearing about it. He was airlifted to Fairfax Hospital in critical condition. Everything after that moment felt like a blur—except for one incredible detail I will never forget.

This is what's left of the vehicle Kenny was driving on October 2nd, 2021

A physician, not part of any emergency team, happened to be nearby and rushed to his side. That stranger—an angel in scrubs—stopped to render lifesaving care and called in the emergency 911 support that would ultimately save Kenny’s life.

He never gave his name. He disappeared just as quickly as he came—like a true guardian angel. To this day, we would love nothing more than to meet him, to thank him, to look him in the eye and say, you saved Kenny’s life.

We believe that the accident was caused by Kenny having a stroke. Two weeks after leaving the hospital, Kenny had another stroke that sent him back to the hospital and then the Encompass Rehab Center. Kenny had to learn to walk, eat and speak all over again as his right side was affected.

When we later had the chance to meet and personally thank the Hamilton Volunteer Rescue Squad, they looked at Kenny in disbelief. Even they couldn’t believe he was alive. It was a moment filled with emotion, gratitude, and the undeniable presence of something greater than all of us.

I believe in angels because I’ve seen them in action.

Sometimes they have wings. Sometimes they carry stethoscopes. Sometimes they wear uniforms and answer emergency calls. And sometimes… they just show up exactly when you need them most.

Every October 2nd, I pause and say thank you—to the unseen, the unknown, and the extraordinary people who walk among us.

Whatever your beliefs, maybe take a moment today to notice the quiet heroes in your life. And never underestimate the power of timing, grace, and guardian angels.

Have you see your guardian angel?

I would love to hear about Angels that you have met.
